Over 3,200 km on the road, 16 tons, two cranes, and a trusted partnership – another oversized transport delivered by LOGITRANS

At the end of March 2025, LOGITRANS Romania successfully completed another international oversized transport, executed with the same rigor and clarity that have defined us for over 18 years.

This time, we were pleased to contribute, together with one of our trusted partners — Romanian Airport Services — to an important stage of a logistics project dedicated to improving passenger services. We ensured the transport of two self-propelled passenger stairs, essential for aircraft boarding, over a distance of more than 3,200 km — from the supplier in Spain to the platform of Otopeni International Airport.

The stairs delivered for this project are equipped with electric engines and are part of a wider modernization program led by Romanian Airport Services, aimed at upgrading and greening ground handling operations. Their use contributes to increased operational efficiency and reduced environmental impact on the Otopeni Airport platform. Beyond the equipment itself, this reflects a sustainable vision: every well-planned step in this direction brings a better passenger experience and a modern infrastructure prepared for future demands.

The transport was carried out by road, in full compliance with all safety and coordination requirements specific to oversized cargo operations. The equipment was loaded in Herencia, Spain, directly from the Spanish supplier — a company with more than 30 years of experience in distributing airport equipment. Given the significant dimensions of the stairs (each measuring 8.2 meters in length, 3.12 meters in width, and 3.5 meters in height, with a total weight of 16 tons), the process required the use of a special crane and perfect coordination to ensure the exact loading date and time. This type of operation requires not only attention to detail but also thorough planning — something the LOGITRANS Romania team managed impeccably.

The transport was performed using a low-bed trailer, designed specifically for oversized loads, and upon arrival at Otopeni Airport, unloading took place under similar conditions — again with a crane, under strict safety protocols and in full compliance with access rules for an active airport area. Coordination among all parties involved — the LOGITRANS team, the Romanian Airport Services representatives, and the airport’s operational staff — was essential for the successful completion of this project.
